We’re Denys and Alona, a Ukrainian family who found a new home in Canada and, quite unexpectedly, discovered a passion that has become a big part of our lives
It all started with a simple surprise. At the time, we were working different shifts, and one day I decided to bake a cake for my wife—just to make her smile. To be honest, I never imagined she would love it so much.
A little later, we baked another cake and shared it with our coworkers. The reaction was something we never expected. Everyone kept asking where we had ordered it, wanted the recipe, and said they hadn’t tasted a cake like that in a long time. That was the moment we thought, “What if we started baking not just for ourselves, but for others too?”
What began as a small hobby gradually turned into our family business. We started accepting our first orders through Facebook Marketplace, and every new customer inspired us to keep going and continue improving.
Today, baking has become a big part of our everyday life. There are nights when, instead of sleeping, we find ourselves talking about new flavours, looking for fresh ideas, discussing cake designs, or planning what we’d like to create next. We genuinely enjoy learning, experimenting, and trying something new.
We also have our most honest taste tester—our daughter, Olivia. She’s always nearby whenever there’s something delicious in the kitchen, and we like to joke that she’s the one who approves every new dessert we make.
We don’t believe we’re perfect. We’re always learning, refining our recipes, discovering new flavour combinations, and challenging ourselves to make every cake even better than the last.
For us, baking is so much more than making desserts. It’s something that brings our family together, fills our home with joy, and gives us the greatest reward of all—seeing the smiles on people’s faces during some of the most meaningful moments of their lives.
